Song of the Day #131 – The Shins

Dear Shins,

I first heard you guys on the Garden State soundtrack, which prompted me to buy Oh, Inverted World. It was a good decision. Then I saw you perform live at Bumbershoot three years ago, which was one of the best shows I’d ever seen. I picked up a copy of all your other CDs and proceeded to annoy my family by playing them ad infinitum. I was looking forward to the next tour.

And then you guys went on hiatus. That’s pretty much the story of my life – if it’s cool, I’m the last guy to find out about it.

I’m aware of James’ side project, Broken Bells, but it’s not doing it for me. I need more Shins. I check your website every couple of months but it might as well have a crickets chirping soundtrack. The video below of Turned On Me captures what I like most about you guys – the melodies, the harmonies, the rockin’ jams, the clever lyrics, the self-deprecating humor. You guys kicked ass.

So, in conclusion, Shins, can you please make some more music?

Your friend,
